Special lug nut ... w/ no socket! HELP!

I recently bought a 92 se-r from a guy about 5 hours away. Well anyways, i didnt notice it had special lug nuts that require the special socket for them to take them off... basically they're a theft deterrant or anti-theft lug nuts so someone cant jack your rims... well anyways, ive contacted the seller several times and i cant get ahold of him. My main problem is, i need to have the front set off so i can take the drive shafts out, so i can drop the tranny and engine.... but i cant cause i cant get the wheels off. Any ideas on how to get those lug nuts off? there is only 1 special one per wheel. I was thinking maybe spot weld a short maybe 6" rod to the socket on the top, and get a cheater bar and try to pry it off... anyone have any suggestions? thanks

go to a tire shop and ask them if they have the tool. sometimes they will sell you the key for those "lock nuts".

well these nuts have a weird ass pattern. at first i thought it was like a hex key... but after closely looking at it it has different edges and sh*t. i think i'll have a hard ass time trying to find the right key. i'll try to take a pic of it tommorrow

The tool a tire shop may have is a socket with counter-clockwise threads that they hammer on and torque. Some shops also have a collection of common keys.

I lost my key a few years ago and a tire shop found that my rims required a thin-walled socket that didn't fit their tool. They suggested spot welding a bolt on it, but I decided to wait and think because I didn't want to damage/discolor the rim. I am sure it would have worked.

Back at home, I considered making a mold of the inlay to caste a new key. It would have been an entertaining excercize, but before I got into that, found I could shim a 1/2 inch breaker bar into it well enough to turn it off.

If you promise not to tell anyone I even walked into the store, I'll tell you that looks a lot like some wheel locks I saw at pep boys.

that is a factory lock nut, take it to the dealership and see if they can take it off for you. If you buy a pack of locknuts then it comes with the wratchet bit that fits in that hole.

i found a solution... i hammered a 3/4" socket on to the lugnut... it took a while cause the socket put a hexagon pattern onto the socket, enough that it would grip and i used a 3/8" wratchet to break it loose. now i just got to figure out how to seperate the 2
