Temperature gauge

Hey guys, I have a question regarding my temp gauge. The only time that it works is when the car is left idling for too long and it starts to get really hot. I can tell this because of the intensity of the heat from the vents. So when the temps are normal it does not register a reading. I just replaced my thermostat since it a cheap fix. For grins, I also replaced the coolant (even though it looked great) and added some water wetter. Since this did not fix the problem I assume there are some additional sensors or something that might be the problem. If so, where are they located? The other thing that concerns me about this is that my cooling fans do not turn on and I would assume that is because the temp gauge isn't working correctly.

Thank you for your help,
Jason

I'm sorry guys, I can't think today. What are FSM and W.P.? I don't know if this makes a difference or not but it is a JDM engine and it is stock.

Thanks fellas!

FSM=Factory Service manual

W.P.=Water Pump

Stand on the pass. side of your car, next to the strut tower, look down, under/next to the intake manifold. Its down there a bit, THere is one Bosch style plug and one clip plug.

THey are right next to each other. THere are 2 senders, one for the ECU, and one for the gauge, IIRC the one with one wire is for the gauge.

when you are replacing the one wire sensor for the guage, should you also change over the two-wire sensor that is red that sends the signal to your ecu?
