Need some help figuring this out...

Ok guy's... I let my brother put my clutch in when we were doing the swap since I didn't have any experience with it. At first it worked fine, no problems at all but then all of the sudden when I was the first car at a major traffic light the clutch decided that it was done disengagin. Basically the car wouldn't disengage the clutch, so I could get in gear with the motor off but when the motor was running it wouldn't go into gear. At first I thought it was the clutch cable so I bought a replacement one but to no avail. So the other night I dropped the transmission to see what I could find.

Here are 2 video's 1 with the clutch plate jiggling underneath the pressure plate and one was the throwout bearing getting stuck on the input shaft. I am waiting on a new throwout bearing and clips from nissan to come in and I think that the clutch disk may be one backwards, but having never done a clutch I couldn't tell you if it looks backwards... just assuming since I have read that it is possible to install it backwards.

Basically I don't want to put this whole thing back together only to find out that it still doesn't work. If anyone could give me some help/advice it would be greatly appreciated.

your clips on the t/b look fine they just need to be reconnected. I had this happen to me once. Also if you pull the pressure plate the act clutch disk is marked "T/M" on one side. this means the side that has t/m on it should be facing the tranny. Also I can't move the fingers on my act pressure plate when its bolted down. You may want to look for damage.

ok, awesome! That helps out a ton. Also, in the video I'm jiggling the clutch disk itself, not the pressure plate fingers... should I get a new clutch since if it was put on backwards or do you think I can get away with the same one? It has only been running for an hour or so actual driving time.

I would pull the pressure plate off and check the clutch disk. make sure all springs are in place on the hub and don't have play in them. If you can move the disk with the pp in place you may have seperated the disk from the hub. You will be able to tell by looking at the disk if its ok or not.

cortrim1 is spot on. That disc/hub should NOT be moving like that. The clutch lining probably separated from the hub.

You are already 90% of the way there, just undo the 6 bolts that hold that pressure plate on and take a look around. I bet some pieces fall out when you pull the assembly off of the flywheel.

Also, like cortrim said, the TOB looks fine. Normally you can't push the TOB off of the input shaft because the pressure plate is there...so it would never extend that far out as to get stuck on the shaft's end.

Also remember to pack the inside of the throw out bearing with grease before reinstallation. this will make the clutch action a little better. Also inspect the bearing case to make sure it was not damaged. when I had my clips pop of the t/b it messed up the bearing and had to be replaced.
