Kjopi- i'm very interested in your setup and how you're not using the jwt ecu...I swear when i asked on this board if there were other ways of going turbo without a jwt ecu everyone said no...What all are you using manage your fuel ? just the afc??
yah....all i have for fuel management is the S-AFC on a stock ecu. i also put in a bbk fuel pump, and the 32lb injectors of course, but the afc is all that manages the fuel....no need for the jwt ecu.
i'm running a stock GTIR turbo manifold, and a stock T28 GTIR turbo. it was a little tricky at first to tune, but once i got the hang of it it works perfectly....it'll be dyno tuned later on this month, but so far so good...i was very suprised with how well it's running.
Yes!!! I always thought that you could get away with the AFC only to run boost, but like everyone else that's asked the answer has always been a firm "NO"! I wonder if you can locate a JWT ecu and swap it on the dyno and maybe compare the results between the AFC tuned car and the JWT tuned car. Think this would be possible?
But wait a minute.. I'm pretty sure he's running a DET ECU. NOT a USDM N/A ECU. I've seen that done before and it works pretty well, but only if you're using the DET ECU. This is because the DET ECU already has fuel and timing maps for a turbo; the N/A ECU does not. That's why you've been told not to use the S-AFC to control a turbo (because you're still running on N/A fuel and timing maps). But, if you wanna try, go ahead and let us know of your results
