have you tried wrapping a towel around the knob and then clamping down w/ vice grips? most people get it off that way. but if you have a replacement for the knob, then skip the towel part.

since he has the stock plastic knobs some NXen came with id just rip it off any way possible. Id take some vice grips lock down on it then take a rubber mallet and hit the end of it, mini impact wrench. Its both screwed on and glued on. only thing ive ever wondered about is could you damage the shift linkage by all this leveraging. the other popular way is to take out the shifter put it on the ground put it under the wheel of the car and wrench it off that way. but i dont think you care about the condition of the knob, se-r people want to keep the leather knob in good shape usualy.

Good Luck.... I had to peel mine like a banana, cut the rubber bits and then took a wrench to remove the nut in the end... I still have to cut the shifter so I can use my Momo Shift boot!
