i'm not sure what you're talking about, but I suppose just some sheet aluminum with some insulation on it would work.

No, I'm thinking on doing a flow canal for the air, trying to make a ram induction, for forcing air getting into the filter, sealed by the shield. I live in a very rainny city, so I have to drive in high level rivers in the streets. I can't relocate the battery because police indications.

I'm working on this too. I converted my CAI to WAI and have made a mock-up that grabs air at the driver side edge of the radiator just behind the bumper cover vent and channels it up through the hole in the fender wall where the CAI used to drop down. The cardboard mock-up was catching a good amount of air and forcing it over the WAI filter. At this point the engine compartment air still mixes in but a good amount of outside air does too when the car is moving forward. I will make shield that puts more bias towards the outside air hitting the filter next. I too need to keep the battery in the stock location. The battery is also larger than stock because I wanted a lot of cold cranking amps so space is tight.

I'm having the mock-up fabbed out of stainless, it may take a short while as I have to wait for scraps to become available.

A mock up is like a template. It's a temporary construction based on what you want to make only it gives you room to adjust and change things before you make the final piece. Usually the pieces can be disassembled so that you can use them as a template for the final product.

OK, thanks a lot for your complete explanation. This saturday I'm gonna make my mock up. Here in Colombia specialized work is very cheap, so I'm not worry about shield's work costs, I'm very interested in material price. I think I'll go by aluminium way.

It's exactly the same way in my car. I'm thinking in use the stock pipes (mine have 2 pipes, one from floor and one from rear of left headlight) and put another 3" ABS pipe for extra air entrance into an ABS or aluminum box-heat shield. I can't relocate Batt for police instructions, but I'll move batt plate about 4 cms to the left to get enough space for the additional pipe. Somebody knows if this way I'll lose pressure? I get this from a friend of mine. He did it in his '69 carb Land Rover, obtaining great results (at least as far as I can feel when accelerating) in the track (his best was 26.32 as stock, now 24.13 with new sparks (Bosch Super 4) and his homemade air induction system; this results are for 7.900 ASL, in a 60 ponies - 2970 lbs car, with FBI-building aerodynamics, so don't laugh on it). Please get me some advice about this, I don't know if this way I only obtain turbulence and a decrease in performance from it, because of MAF
