size of screw extractor?

I need to know if I bought the right size extractor and drill bit to remove this tranny mound bolt. The bolt is one of the ones that attaches the mount bracker to the tranny. From the forums I have read that it is a M10x1.50 not sure of the length.

The guy at the hardware store sold me a Hanson Spiral Screw Extractor(ex-4)
and a 1/4inch drill bit. Are these the right sizes?

Also I have never done this before. Do I just start to drill a hole in the broken bolt? How deep 1/4inch? then forward the extractor into the hole 1/4inch, then reverse it out?

Please give me some advise I do not want to mess up the threads on the tranny case.
