worst case senario

well as stupid as this sounds my car isn't moving thanks to a 4 inch piece of coolant hose that is physicly impossible to replace. Last night i was getting on it and next thing i know i see some smoke comin from under the hood. Well i take a look and see that the 4 inch long piece of coolant hose that is directly below the intake manifold ( on a u13bb) has a split and is leaking pretty good. I think no big deal easy fix. Well i get the car home and go to work on it this morning well after about 3 1/2 hours i finally get the old hose off. And to make a long story short for the past 7 hours
have been spent lying under my car with my head in a puddle of collant in 90 degree weather trying to get the new line on which is impossible as far as i'm concerened with the motor in the car. Anyone else ever had to replace this? any suggestions would be appreciated i a way words can not express. thanks

I had to replace mine but the motor was on the stand when I changed it. It can be replace with the motor in the car. You can help your self out by making the house plyable by soaking it in some hot water. this will allow you to work with the hose a little easier. You may want to remove some items for extra work space.

That will help. In seven hours you could have removed the IM and reinstalled it. Just my opinion.

Just hot tap water will make it slightly more plyable. His idea will work. And I replaced mine as well, on a motor stand. I would double up the hose clamps, just so you know it won't leak again.

And I'm with John, I would just take the Intake Manifold off, it will be tons easier.

lube it up inside the ends of the hose to get it on, it will make you life much much easier. I would have taken the mannifold off, and probably reused the same gasket.
