A few questions regarding belt driven accessory removal....

After looking at some pictures on this forum and seeing an "Axle Driven ALternator" posted in another thread I got to thinking......

If you were to Replace the Water pump with an electric unit, remove AC and PS pumps, and find a way to drive the alternator off of the flywheel and use Deep cycle batteries to hold current charge, could you run an engine completely beltless?

Considering the savings in static loss of energy, wouldnt the ability to weigh and balance the engine for very high revving be pretty attainable via weighting the crank via the pulley and flywheel?

Sorry if this sounds to you, Im just pondering

I have liked the idea of a beltless motor for some time. Where did you read the thread about an axle driven alternator?

interesting, very interesting. Im sure it could be done, but its hardly worth it.

Interesting also because the speed of the alternator would vary with speed not RPM, so if it is stopped... there is no amperage.
