Swapping Doors/Locks

I was wondering if anyone ever swapped doors on their car. I just bought a door today and it took me like 5 minutes to get the old door off of my NX. It's going to be a ton hard to put the new one back on. I was wondering if anyone has ever swapped the locking mechanisms in their doors? I (obviously) have to swap the locks since the new door does not have the correct lock I need. I took off the old door handle and lock, but it's not a particular easy thing to do. Does anyone have any tips for me? If so TIA....Chris

Have you ever seen a pic of the NX's door hanels? Anyway, they are made out of steel not plastic like the classics and the 20sx's door handels....so you can't really shave them, and they already flow into the door anyway....

I can say this job absolutely sucks. I was lucky that I did not have either doors on the car when I did this. I had my new door on my bed (didn't want to dent it) when I did this. The rod system is pretty easy to understand. The trick is to have the key in the lock and twisting it in order for the whole handle to come out without damaging anything. The arm on the tumbler (when in the unlock position) blocks the handles exit if not in the unlock position. God have mercy on your soul if you have to do this. I will just pay someone the next time. Seriously!

It is easy to get out, but very hard to get back in....I did it on the passenger door..

I actually experienced it the other way around. But then getting the rod onto the tumbler was a bitch. I don't ever want to do that again. But, hey if someone needs help I'm always around.

Dear lord yes, the japanese have *MUCH* smaller and more nimble hands than we do..lol..That was the most time consuming and difficult part, getting it off there wasn't a piece of cake either
...I figured out after I did it that you can just remove the rod from the door latch rather than the door lock and you can get it out and put it back the same way....
