Disable knock sensor?

Ok, bassicly I have been getting code 34 which we all know is Knock sensor, for a while. I replaced the sensor and after numerous ECU resets its still giving me the code. Can I simply unplug it or is there anyway to run the car without a knock sensor so the car just 'pressumes' there is no knock?

Yes ive searched.

IIRC, it won't work. Sure, you can unplug it, but you'll cars timing will be 'retarded' the whole time. When your vehicle assumes knock, your timing retards itself. So, it may work, but I doubt it.

Also, somewhat adding, trying not to hi-jack, but I accidentally snipped my knock sensor wire. I soldered it back together, but instead of running the ground wire to my ECU, I just ran a chassis/block mounted ground wire. This ok?

as far as i'm aware the ecu needs to see a signal from the knock sensor to operate properly. The fault may not be with the actual sensor, it could be the connector or harness or ecu but would still show 3.4

You need to torque a bolt/nut on the sensor. 30Nm of torque for the ecu to "see" everything is in check. Don't forget to ground the nut/bolt setup to the engine and tierap it to a power cable or heater hose.

presto: 0 knock, 0 retard

Why would you want to rid of your knock sensor. He's a little helper.

I want to disable it because I simply don't think its THAT usefull for me. So long as my timing is correctly set.
