I'm getting ready to perform a head swap on my 98 200SX-SER, which by the way runs good. I am having machine work done on a 97 head (also from a 200SX-SER) and noticed different stampings between the 2 heads.
Below the distributor, the 98 head has 94Y 1R and on the 97 head in the same location it has 94Y 1L. These were not covered in the listing at the beginning.... anyone know what the difference might be??
i was wondering if anyone could tell what engine i have, the head has thenumbers 53j 9r, i havent seen anyone post on this motor. has a red top black center. thanks for any help
I have a 93 SE-R i just bought and the Head is Stamped 53J 5L...w/ a gold valve cover with black in the park plug area... has egr and i want to try to figure out the compression and where the engine is from...usdm, jdm or what. thx
This was a BlueBird motor, although now we are beginning to wonder exactly what the hell it is.
I don't know anything about the turbo.
The head has 53J 2L stamped on it. Its a highport with no EGR. Has sodium filled valves, purple injectors.
Here is the weird part...motor came with a burgundy valve cover with a black channel. It wasn't supposed to, at least going by the codes that I have found. It should have a silver or a red cover.
The only thing that I can think is that maybe the valve cover was swapped at some point??

what do you mean burgundy? I have never seen a stock SR VC this color, can you get a pic?
