Rich and boggs when cold

I've got a problem with my car... is getting poor mileage and runs really poorly when cold. I start the car, it idles rough then smooths out after a few seconds. If i try to pull out of the driveway when its cold the thing bogs down when i hit the throttle. Once the car is warmed up it runs smooth and idles smooth but it stinks (smells rich) and gets only about 20mpg. I checked for vacuum leaks, cannot find any. The O2 sensor was replaced recently. I checked MAF and TPS voltages and everything seems within specs. I'm pretty sure a sensor is giving a bad reading but am not sure how to narrow it down. Are there impedences for the sensors listed some where or some other way that i could just go around sensor by sensor and check? The only other thing i could think is that my cat is bad but i dont know that would cause all of the symptoms listed. Thanks for any help. The ECU throws code 55 by the way (system normal). I have a 1992 classic with a VE. EGR removed. Using DE TPS and MAF. Compression was tested since this problem began and was consistent and within spec at all 4 cylinders.

Do you have a JWT ECU? If so, the cold hesistation is "normal" for an ECU programmed for bigger injectors.

If you are running DE injectors, take them out and place the VE ones in. Also, switch out the fuel injectors cap screws for allen head bolts. If you need the measurements I can give them to you as I just ordered a set for me.

VE injectors, JWT program for VE injectors. Coolant temp sensor eh? why would that cause this kind of problem? Im curious. Can that effect mileage too?

It's been an issue with my car, and several others with a JWT ECU. Did this problem just show up?

A bad coolant temp sensor can cause all kinds of problems! Hesitation, The car cutting off right after starting until it reaches a certain temp...the car running rich as hell, ect

I might have an extra one at the house. Can someone refresh my memory on where it goes? I just pulled it off of the motor no paying any attention.

No worries man, i appreciate it but it would cost almost as much to ship it. Nissan has it in stock and i still get a discount over there.

Its the sensor by the power steering pump underneath the intake manifold if i remember correctly.

Dude, your killing me... its not gonna be solved by a FPR. Ive had a VE since 2003, the car ran fine for the last 2 years and then all of the sudden started getting poor mileage and running rich.l Im sure i could use some tuning but i think right now i have a sensor going bad. hahaha. i'll give you credit for being persistent.

Good news, it was the coolant temp sensor. I put in a new sensor and harness to be safe and problem solved. thanks to everyone for the help.
