Ok well I put in another distributor and same thing I unplugged the maf and the car did not shut off than I replugged it in and the car shut off.. I believe the car is suppose to automatically shut off? I than went to clear the check engine light which iturned on when I unplugged the maf. Than the car revved over 2k so maybe the car was in safe mode? The other code it threw was coolant temp I had 0 codes before all of this. Please post up any ideas or thoughts please thanx a lot peace

No it did not work. It started running right after I cleared the codes that I caused by unplugginh the maf. I fixed it but don't know what was originally wrong so regardless I want too figure out what's wrong.

check the voltage at the maf at idle then WOT. once you either re-ground it or replace it. make sure you reset your ecu.

well right now the car is running fine so i have no way to diagnose the problem now because it isnt doing it anymore.

what would cause the car to go into safe mode? a bad sensor is what i thought but i never got a check engine light so thats why i am confused.
