I disconnect the battery any time I open the hood, practically. I really don't wanna touch bare wire while grounding myself out. NOT fun.

Yeah, I disconnected the battery -- I do every time I do any work under the hood. I tend to be very careful with electricity ever since I touched the sparkplug on a running lawnmower when I was 8.

I have a 2 farad cap for my audio and a solar panel I use to trickle charge the battery, neither of which I disconnected, so maybe it somehow got zapped by those. Or maybe it was just its time to go. It was 16 years old after all.

Congrats on getting it fixed. It's good to hear that such a tough problem to diagnose was caught relatively quickly. I know I would never have suggested that the ECU might need replacing.

I can tell you must have learned quite a bit from all the work you've done. You remind me of myself maybe 6 years ago. Eager to learn, good mechanical skills, just needed some direction from others who have been there before.

I hope the rest of your education continues similarly. =]

ECU's fry all the time, I've had a couple myself. Mostly 91 cars though.
