So i noticed that i have a noise around 3K, i can tell its comming from cyl #2... You can hear it at idle but its faint or around 3K and you can hear it under load (if i give it some gas). Not a deep noise, higher pitch noise and seems to be coming from the top end. Valve or rod, or......? I know there is no valve adjustment but a bad shim would make that noise? Its definatley upper and it is not the chain.

Ok.. pulled it off and had someone crank the engine for me and everything looks to be in order.. I cant see anything out of the ordinary. Pushed on all parts and moved everything around and nothing is different. Is it possible that I need to check for worn out shims?
Ok... So i havent had a chance or a device yet to record the noise... But here is exactly what is happening. When the engine is cool there is no noise. When it warms up there is slight noise at idle, noise is louder around 3K, but is definate upon rev. up. when i unplugged the spark wire from the cyl. the noise went away all together.
yepp ...i agree with bluese-r..........honestly if i was to take a guess ....it sounds to me like a slight rod knock...i could totally be wrong though *shrug*
good luck hope its not a rod knock but do hope you find out wtf is going on...do you a/c?....check the compressor it could simply be the thing making the noise....mine did when i had my integra ..i almost pooped my pants thinking it was a rod or something till i whipped out the stethoscope and touched my engine in places i never thought i would stick it on....lmao wow @ the way that came out lmao
thx... nope its not a/c, i pulled that off. and its clearly coming from cyl #2 just hard to tell if its from around cams or from bottom end... the engine has about 170miles on it... i dont know if i should bother with fixing it or getting a jdm..
