might be gettin an 01 sentra se... need some advice

hey everyone, im new to this forum so excuse me if im asking something obvious or in the wrong section....

well im looking at buying a 2001 sentra se 2.0L with a 5 speed manual transmission. now from what i read, the 2.0L is an SR20DE with roller cams, which is different from the 99 and under SR20DE. what are the major differences besides the valvetrain in the heads?? is everything besides that fully compatible with all other SR20DE parts?? and is an SR20DE fwd from a sentra fully compatible to go into a rwd 240sx if i ever decide to swap it?

also, is the roller cam setup better or worse then the other sr20?? is there any obvious problems with this engine that i should look for??

im very mechanically inclined, but new to the nissan world and their engine setups. thank you for all your advice!!

The only part that wont be compatible will be cams. You will have to buy cams made especially for the RR valvetrain such as JWT S3R's.

A FWD SR20 will not be compatible in a 240sx. You would have to buy an imported JDM RWD SR20 from Japan.

I don't think there is much of a difference performance wise between the roller cam setup and the regular SR20's.

ok thanks for the help.

i was also wondering if someone can give me a few links that have common performance parts for the sr20 and a 2001 sentra.... im used to dealing with american v8's, so im always on summitracing and jegs. im not familiar with what are the legit nissan performance parts websites or where to find them.

also what are common upgrades for the sr20?? i know turbo is pretty common, but anything else thats pretty common, or a good starting point for this car and engine??

b15sentra.net is the forum where most of the SR20 guys in the B15 body style hang out. Check the classifieds section on these forums and b15sentra.net

I would go this route:
AEM/Place Racing Intake
SSAC Header (only $100 shipped)
HKS/Stromung catback (there is a vendor selling the HKS for about $360 shipped)

Then after that you can decide either to get Cams, Clutch, or anything else you would like. The B15 platform is pretty good in the handling department, so there is a number of suspension modifications you can do to make the car even more fun.
