Transmission is stuck in first gear.

So here is the story, a while back 5th gear started popping out on me so instead of driving it and having it get worse I parked it and waited until I could get a new transmission. I got one and through me not doing enough research ended up getting a new 5th gear stack from a friend. I have been using my parents cars and since my dad was tired of me working on my car he had it towed to a shop and told me to bring my transmission to this shop once I replaced 5th gear. When it was removed everything was fine except for 5th and the car has not been driven since. The shop recently told me that they finished everything, but it was now stuck in 1st gear and that they don't have time to keep looking at it and are putting it aside to get to other cars . I tried searching, but couldn't get a definite answer on what the problem could be, and they are telling me I have to get it rebuilt now and my dad is so upset that he won't tow it back anywhere I can look at it with some friends. Any help you have would be appreciated.

So you had the tranny out, you repaired the 5th gear pop out yourself? How is that done? Anyway, Im assuming the tranny is back in the car and it will drive, but not out of 1st.
Will it go into neutral? How does the clutch pedal travel feel? with the engine off, will it shift gears then?
I have a sentra stuck in 1st before. It was because a peice of one of the hub springs in my clutch came apart and lodged itself between the friction disc and the pressure plate, causing constant engagement. Even with the pedal pushed in, the clutch was engaged. I had to start the car in 1st and truck shift it til I got it home. My starter and syncs loved me.
That same car got stuck in 4th, (was only a 4 speed) because going down the interstate one day, my tranny lost all its oil and melted my blocker ring causing the sync to stick. I was on a trip and pulled off for gas and it wouldn't down shift. had to drive that b in 4th through all mph.
Anyway, the blah blahs short, your problem could be improper clutch installation, linkage jammed, shift forks inside unaligned, blocker ring stuck.
Try seeing what you can see first. look under the car, under the hood and see what's out of place. If anything, disconnect the linkage at the tranny and try forcin the tranny out of gear with a hammer or pri bar. Be careful and wear safety glasses! ha ha.

If you cant figure it out, I'll sell you a spare 5 speed out of my 92 for 300 with new seals, if you want to drive to cashville to get it.

Wooa, this is pretty much my same story!!!!

My 98 B14 came with the non LSD tranny so I bough a 94 LSD model from one of the member here. It worked like a charm the first week but then, suddenly, got stuck on 3rd gear and byitself, it pop out and started to worked randomly bad during 3 days until I decided to take it out, right before taking it out, it would not want to get into 5th any more.
We opened it and shift forks inside unaligned, it got damage and the 5th gear also was damaged.

We decided to transplant everything from the B14 tranny to the B13 tranny except for the 2nd gear as it grinded a little bit. We put back all together and the car worked just fine, for only few days and now it's stuck on first gear.

We are going to take it down again today. Someone said it was wear the cause of the problem but I am not really into that.

What else do you think might be happening?

As soon as we take it apart and open it, I will post pics.
