.axle carrier bracket.

Hey how's everybody doing today? i haven't posted in a while but trying to get back into the swing of things. the last time i drove my NX it felt like my clutch was going out. it was having a hard time catching. i was about 2 seconds away from my house and the clutch wasn't grabing at all. no grinding noises or anything, it would just rev up. car still running i pop up my hood to see maybe i can see what the problem is and all of my transmission fluid is pouring out. i turn off my engine. i push my car to my driveway. and it's been sitting in my driveway for a good couple months.

i've finally gotten time to go under to see what the problem is and i see that my axle carrier bracket is hanging loose (?) all three bolts were missing. i have no idea how this would happen. it should be bolted to the block but for some odd reason all three were gone.

i have three questions. 1.) how would all three bolts just disapear? (what size are they and do i order them from nissan?)2.) becuase the bracket came loose and the axle wasn't stable would that of messed up my tranny 3.) if my tranny isn't messed up would i just have to replace the seal, rebolt the carrier bracket, and put the axle back in?

thank you for your time and hopefully i'll get my NX back on the road again : )

Joji

They probably came out because they weren't tight.

I don't think you have to go to nissan for the bolts, but it would be easier.

I would pull the axle all the way out and inspect the splines on it and inside the transmission. If there is damage, you're in for more work than just replacing some bolts.

Hey Matt! sorry it's taken me almost a year to reply back school and work has been kicking my ass. Hard top has been down and sitting in the Garage for a while.I thought I messed something up in the Transmission, but the passager axle left the transsmission the carrier bracket came looose for some reason Splines looked fine so I put it back in and bolted up the bracket. Ran good for month and now it's not starting up for some reason and I'm trying to figure it out. No grinding noise in the transmission, and it's turning but not sparking. I looked at the distributor and there doesn't seem to be any wear on the inside, and my spark plugs had oil on them. I'm just reading around trying to figure out how to get it back up. I miss driving it.

Hopefully you can figure it out soon. I'd try swapping a known good distributor in from another car to try and see if that changes anything.
