Sr20 Problem

Hey guys I have spent the last 6 months or so converting my 1983 Toyota Starlet from 1300cc 8 valve to a s13 2000cc 16 valve SR20DE but now I have run into problems, have got it all in the Starlet, wiring-motor-box etc, but it wont start, have got my starter hooked up to a button and the old ignition wiring out of the S13 in and a fuel cell in the boot with in tank pump wired to ignition, so I turn the ignition on and red light on compter comes on a click occurs in engine bay and the fuel pump cranks but then I hit the starter button and it just turns over and over pulled plugs out 1 at a time and they all have spark, so confussed, when I pulled the motor out of the silvia it ran on the same tank etc but now it just wont run any help appreciated Cheers

is it getting fuel?

a lot of people, including me have reversed the fuel lines doing a swap

the pressure line should be on the side that doesn't have the fuel pressure regulator, the return line will have the regulator on it

sr20bud: Going from toyota to nissan, every single little thing is custom which could put alot of people off, but in the end will be worth it with right bits of course. skcusloa: return line is on the fpr end and pressure line is on firewall end of motor, but not sure if the fuel is getting to the cylinders as if it was it would run correct? when i crank it should there be fuel coming out the return line or would it wait till its running to open that line ? so confussed any help appreciated.

If the pump is pumping, there will be fuel, at all times, coming out the return line to the tank unless there is insufficient supply of fuel to the rail (i.e high rpm with big injectors or something).

So if you prime the pump before starting the car and you have the hose off the FPR into a bucket and no fuel comes out, then its not getting fuel.

Remember, the ECU is at no time aware if the fuel pump is running or if there is sufficient fuel pressure. It just assumes that if it sends the signal to the fuel pump relay to switch on, that the fuel pump is on and the rail pressure is OK.
