Nx2000 Sounds like old VW Bug...

This morning I was going to the store and I down shifted to pass someone. Well I went into the store and got some stuff and when I came back out and started my car it sounded like an old VW Bug and it sounds rough. Idle was fine and everything but it seems like my car was shaking more and it felt like it loss some power possibly. A couple months ago I ripped a hole in my exhaust pipe just under the front of the car and it made it loud but not like what I experienced today. Does anyone know whats the matter with my car?

I actually went back out and it sounds more like a subaru I would have to say. Idle is fine etc, but giving it gas makes it sound like a subaru.

Dropped an injector?

While running pull each injector plug. If the injector is good this will effect the engine running. If you pull a plug and there is no change, you've found the bad injector.

Yeah I just pulled all of them and all of them want to kill the motor except #2? The one thats the second from the left side. Would it probably be the sparkplug since it was working fine this morning until i went to the grocery store?

You should just replace #2 injector. I had two injectors fail on me a few years back (not at the same time). The first would intermittently not work before it finally stopped altogether. The other just failed all of a sudden.

I doubt your spark plugs are the cause, but it wouldn't hurt to check them over after attending to the injector.

okay well I checked the spark plugs and the wiring and they work fine. We even swapped #2 and #3 spark plug and there was no difference. My wifes brother said we are probably going to have to do a leak down test to see if the injectors are bad? How do I remove the injector plugs? Is there a clip that holds it down? Will it spray fuel if I remove the injector plug?

Didn't you pull the injector plugs off to diagnose the problem (they are the clip on two wire electrical plugs)?

Or are you referring to replacing the the entire injector? If so, remove the injector harness, unscrew (phillips; be careful these will strip) the two screws holding the injector cap on, remove injector (this can be a PITA).
