This is from the EM section in some of the FSMs when checking piston to bore clearances:
7. Install main bearing caps and tighten bolts to the specified
torque. This will prevent distortion of cylinder bores.
This is strait from the horses mouth so to speak. Can I trust this statement? I will soon be doing a rebuild on my 54C motor and I am still in the prep phase getting every thing together. I am having a hard time locating a deck plate to rent and I just cannot justify the 500$ to Mazworks for one. I could check this on one of my spare motors with the head on and the caps and then without but I am away from home right now.
