1991 NX2000 [RS5F32V] Transmission locked up while driving

Hello my name is Norris, and I am new to this forum. I attempted to search through the forum for a similar failure, and I could not find any.
I believe that my output shaft seal failed just prior to the transmission locking up. After it locked up the gear shift lever was very stiff. Even after I got it into the neutral position as soon as I let off the clutch the engine stalled without jerking the car. I removed the transmission yesterday. In the clutch housing, right in between the input shaft and passenger side axle, there is an area forged into a circular shape. As you can see from the pictures I have taken this area had a mechanical failure. I pulled the broken piece off, and there are cylindrical shaped "pellets" jumbled near failure(not shown in pictures). Are these failures from a synchronizer?

Is this area the "Mainshaft" in the transmission?

Is it worth getting rebuilt[more cost efficient], or should I buy a rebuilt transmission?

I am calling around now to try to get some prices on a rebuilt RS5F32V. Is there anything I should look out for or be aware of?

Thank you for taking time to read my post.
