AIV PAIR Cleaning - leaking exhaust and nox emissions
hi all,
i checked the AIV from the air intake box, there is no vacuum and it makes a loud noise. When the car is heated up, it is leaking hot air into the intake.
I want to clean the PAIR which i guess is responsible for leaking hot air in the intake, but my stupid chilton doesn't exactly show me where it is. I assume it is the big black box between two big hoses, one that leads to the box holding the air filter, and the other that leads to the AIV. If the PAIR is cleaned out, will hot exhaust stop leaking into my intake box, and will it reduce my NOX? Can I also clean the little brass fitting from the top of the AIV with carb cleaner?
BTW, here are my results:
1992 nx2000
The max in california at 15 mpg is 815
a gross polluter is considered 2026,
I am at 2484!!!!
At 25 mpg the max is 754
a gross polluter is 1826
I am at 1801
