Good TPS, No signal wire voltage

Hello everybody, I have a very confusing wiring problem that I can't figure out. I just shortened and rewired my datsun's s13 sr20de engine wiring harness. It starts and idles fine, but the tps signal wire reads 0v. Obviously, this causes the car to bog down when I open the throttle. I decided to try another tps sensor, and still encountered the same problem. To make sure the sensors weren't failing I hooked the tps up to a seperate power and ground supply to monitor the signal voltage with my volt meter. Indeed, the sensors are both functioning and gave a proper signal voltage from closed to open throttle. The only time the signal wire reads 0V is when the tps is connected to the harness. It is receiving 5V from power to ground, it's just not reading a voltage at the signal wire. I tested the power supply voltage while opening the throttle, and it dropped from 5V to about 1V, making it seem like the voltage is flowing to the signal wire. I've also checked continuity at all three wires from the connector to the ecu, along with trying a spare ecu. I am stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
