ecu HELP!!

Just finished my s14 sr20de/vct swap into my s13, I used my KA loom and ka24de ecu to run the sr. started fine, runs good in the high rpm range. slow in the low rpm range and putters at about 3 to 4 rpm but pulls after that. When i shift gears the rpm's slowly climb down befor any pick up...

My question is can the s13 sr20de ecu run it better than the ka im not worried about the vct, I can get a msd switch to run it, or will i have to get my ecu tuned for this motor???, or will the s14 sr20de ecu work on the s13 loom im using??

thanks for your help

You will probably need to get your ECU tuned for that motor. What wiring changes, if any, did you make?

Thanks for your reply Dave! It looks like I'll have to send it out to get tuned! As for the wiring it was not that hard all the wires match up only the vct was left undone, most plugs from my ka loom pluged rite into anything on the sr motor some plugs from the sr loom had to be used. Nothing had to be repined, only thing that might seem tricky is the distributor, the sr's have the coil and ignitor built in where as the ka does not! But just a simple wire match up is all it needs jwt site shows you how to do it easy really! And like I said the ka does a good job at powering it. I'll get the msd switch and see if it fixes the lag before the retune. I'll post some pics later

anyone doing this swap should know that any jdm header that come with these motors will not WORK! Even with fab it will not work. However keep the sr flange and find a ka24de header and weld tht to the sr flange works well.
Also finding a clutch is hard det's won't work find a used rwd sr or rebuild. Those were the main things I had to deal with "ecu, header, and clutch"

uh i think its cause of vtc ive got a s13 sr20de na runing off a s13 ka ecu werks fine
but the vtc on a s14 motor is important when cam gear is present...
u can put a s13 sr20det cam gear on it w cams and u should get power back
also consider that ka has diff maf...
sr20de uses a single cam maf..no matter s13 or s14...
i wouldnt try the ecu thing cause its costly.....
if u wanna try cheap then try msd rpm switch on vtc first an foremost
vtc is crap i dont like it
i have a customer with vtc rattle he has werking vtc selinoid..trigger frm ecu is good
new vtc cam gear and still same rattle.....
it can wear the rings down on piston 1 and 2....
u can also try s14 ka harness and ecu...
unless thats *** u r using but u didnt specify...
