New control arm/ball joint problem NEED HELP!

Hello. I just replaced my control arm with new one from Advanceautoparts, Dorman part. Unfortunately the ball joint does not fit properly on the knuckle. When it's seated, it does not leave enough thread for me to be able to put a cotter pin through the castle nut. I need to be able to turn maybe 2 more times. It doesn't seem like it's a problem with seating because it's in there tight and I have to use the ball joint separator tool. Has anyone experienced anything like this with new balljoint/control arm? Some options I am thinking of is

1. Get new arm from different source
2. Get shorter castle nut which should help fitting the cotter pin.
3. Get new ball joint and press it into my old arm.

Any idea as to why it's not fitting correct would be appreciated. It's hard for me to believe that Dorman put in the wrong ball joint but I guess it's possible...

thanks in advance.

Try using the old ball joint nut that is not a castle nut. I hate using those because they have to be lined up perfect to work.
