SR20 A/T Problem

After letting our Automatic SR20 powered car sit for 4 years we decided it was time to get her back on the road. After replacing all the fluids we took it back out for her maiden voyage with no problems at all...

That is until I stutter stepped when trying to pass someone to merge. So here is the problem:

When shifting from Park to Reverse it locks like it is in Park.
Go down to Neutral and if you take the RPM up to 4k it wants to go forward.
Go down to Drive and we are moving forward.
Go down to 2 and we are moving forward.
Go down to 1 and we're not going anywhere.

Any suggestions or has anyone had this problem?

check the shifter linkage underneath the car. sound like the rubber bushing is bad or fell out

Linkage is all good.

I took it up to aprox 4500 RPM in reverse and got a hard pop and then I got reverse back. All is good now except no overdrive. When I am cruising at 65 MPH I'm turning 3800 RPM.

Any more ideas anyone?

I finally dropped the pan today to find brass in the pan. Not a happy camper. Anyone have any ideas?
