hey i got a buddy that can get a jdm sr20 for really cheap. It comes with the jdm motor, tranny, ecu, and axles. I know that he should: 1. sell the car and get an se-r; 2. go for the det; But hes getting a good deal and he has all the turbo parts he needs.
My question is, what exactly needs to be done? Would the JDM ecu work? Any rewiring? And will a usdm engine harness hook right in?
i know it has been asked many times but all i could find is buy an se-r. If anyone could help my friend out by giving some info I would truly appreciate it.
I say buy a se-r, looking at the FSM there is big difference in the EFI harness between the GA and SR. Also all the mounts are different. Try searching the forums for more details.

Ok well if he's gettin a good deal, you cant pass up a good deal. He'll need the sr20 engine wiring harness and most likely the sr20 crossmember. The only different mounts will be the passenger side mount and the tranny mount. And about the jdm ecu, the usdm wiring harness will prolly be wired different and will not work with the jdm ecu (correct me if im wrong) .but i think you'll be better off with a usdm ecu
Hey Nismo87SE where in houston do you stay..

joSE-R, I was Born to drive this Machine!
So many people told me to sell my car and buy an SE-R. But I've already done so much work (custom paint job, etc) so I decided to keep my car and just did the swap.
I just got my swap done and ended up spending a lot less than selling my car and buying an SE-R, and I got to keep everything I had! You'll need a lot of parts and lots of work to do this swap, but yes, it is possible. Did you do enough searching on this forum? I've been posting tons of info here past few months. But hey, I'm in Utah too. Maybe I could help you guys out if you want any detailed info.
Good luck.
