5th Gear Problem, Not POP OUT
My 92 Classic has developed a recent problem. It is stiff going into
5th gear because the shift linkage is hitting on my Progress front
sway bar in 5th gear. When I hit a bump and the sway bar flexes and
will sometimes jar the car out of gear. During non-bump situtation
the shifter is in contact with the sway bar and will vibrate the car
out of gear after about 3 miles. I constantly have to let off the
gas and push the shifter to get it to stay in gear. Is there
anything about the bushings in the shift mechanism which could wear
out and cause the linkage to sag downward and make it contact the
sway bar?
Any suggestions?
