Anyone have like a whistle sound down low around 2krpm, I don't think it's an exhaust leak, although it sounds like it, I've had this sound for over 2 yrs now, vacuum & intake hoses look fine, I've gotten use to the sound, anyone have this problem?
Seriously, could it be your radio? A bad ground on a radio will cause it to whistle a bit..Josh

im sorry i forgot to mention this... but did the sound start when you installed a header? I've had trouble with flexpipes on ps headers. Sounds like mad crickets.
a flex joint (vs a flex pipe) eleminated the whistle for me on my ps... however my whistle was through out the entire rev band... two different flex pipes were used and both made the whistle... the flex joint (ball, socket, and springs) got rid of the whistle
i just want to ;et you know that i can't garantee any kind of change if you were to get the flex joint welded in.... i just wanted to share with you what i experienced... good luck with what ever you decide to do
I thought my whistle was the flex pipe, but a brand new one did'nt change the noise. A new catback system cured it. However, my honda accord started whistling with a new flexpipe. Who knows, any pinhole leak can cause that.
which is why i am suggesting that any flex pipe would make that sound... and that the only way to avoid it would be to use a flex joint... like the one that comes on the ps header
Hey, I've got that whistle too. I noticed it this morning in the parking garage. I've probably had it for a while, but never had driven through the parking garage w/ the window rolled down to hear it echo off the walls. I only hear it as I'm accelerating [slowly] in 1st gear. It kinda sounds like an electric golf cart.
It's worryin' me because I've got a clicking sound when I turn the steering wheel (not necessarily turning); and I hear a strange metallic-like popping noise from the rear. Both things seem to only occur when it's real hot outside and the car is warm.
I'm wondering if the clicking sound and whistle is the CV joint. I'm completely clueless about w/ the popping sound. I figured it was the rear suspension, but I've bounced the rear bumper up/down; re-bound is ok and no sound occurs.
Then again, the metallic-popping sound and whistle could be the stock exhaust system on its way out and the clicking sound from the steering wheel could be normal.
