pcv valve question

OK, i bought a used JDM SR from a guy i know who had it boosted. when i swapped it into my car, i noticed the VC was plugged where the fitting used to by for the pcv valve hose, and the hose was just dangling there "sucking" unmetered air. basically a huge vacuum leak, as the car wouldn't idle. I talked to the guy i bought the engine from and he said that with the a turbo, you need to disconect the pcv valve.
why?

Not true, where did he come up with that idea . The PCV only opens one way, from the valve cover to intake manifold. It does not change anything when the motor is turbo.

i should then ask him if his car idled right. When i first turned the key after the swap, all i heard was a huge hissing, and i knew thetre was a vaccuum leak. Then i noticed the pcv.

Maybe he had it plugged with a bolt or something. He probably did that because he thought that boost would somehow go through the PCV valve, the breather fitting on the side of the valve cover must have been doing all the work.

there was no beather fitting on the VC. it was plugged w/ a 3/8" npt plug. I, however did put a bolt in the vaccuum line.

The two fittings on the drivers side that go to the air intake pipe is what I meant.
