The G20 tranny has longer gears. It would be a perfect set-up for turboed cars. Allows the turbo to spool up much longer prior to shifting.

Here was some research I did a while back that might assist your question:

I have a g20t tranny on my vehicle. The T-comes with the LSD. As far as SOTP 1-3 "feel" the same 4th and 5th are definetley longer. In 5th gear with se-r transmission 80mph@4000rpms. Now with g20T transmission 90mph@4000 rpms. I mainly got the g20t tranny for better gas mileage since i drive 100 miles a day. When i drop it down into 3rd or 4th gear i always rev match . Did the same with se-r tranny never blew anything up.

I used to be hard on my car for the first two or three years of turbo never had issues with tranny going bad. Only issues with clutchs lasting. never blew a tranny. Now that i have two young ones rarely have the opportunity to really abuse my car in my 100 mile rounnd trip commute. Wellactually except for the return trip when i dont have the kids

The G20T box from a 94-96 use cable.

You can not tell the diffrence when its out the SE-R box and the G20T box look the same.

91-96 G20 gear boxes are the same as the 91-99 SE-R boxes with the diffrence being 98-99 SR20DE's are Non Limites Slip and 91-96 standard G20s are Non Limited Slip.

Th big shaft G20T box starts in 99 and newer. The large Sentra Box starts in 2000 and newer. All of the large shaft boxes are Hydralic all the small shaft boxes are cable.

you could try gettin rid of solid puck disk and getting a heavier pp w/ a street/kevlar disk so it is not such a harsh engagement when shifting hard, it might help you get a little more life out of those trannies you keep blowing, or you might also want to put some new stock gears in and not a tranny from a junkyard with a ton of miles, at least this way you know the gears aren't chewed yet, but eventually you will have to keep replacing or buy a gearset to handle your power level

What is the 'box' if I may ask. When referring to the trannies you keep saying the box. Is that kind of a slang term for the tranny housing?
