cause i didnt want to remove the radiator hose. that introduces another hours work into it by having to refill and bleed the cooling system. by moving the overflow bottle out of the way, remove its mount, and remove the uppper alternator mount you can normaly get the alternator out by pulling it between the upper radiator hose and the frame rail. With the auto the power steering lines are ran right on top of the frame rail inboard of the coolent overflow bottle. they are about an inch to inch and a half tall. which takes up almost all your space you need. if your mounts are bad, which obviously mine are, and your motor sits low, you will have to jack up the engine. but i had to lift over 2 inches to get enough room no matter how i turned the alternator. If it wasnt for that stupid ground screw it would have taken me a total of 2 hours , even going to buy the thing and waiting to get my old one tested, from removal to install. Started little after 10, got done at 1. worked straight, but that ground screw took up better part of 45 mins or more
