Sand the disc? I don't think I'd do that. Just remember to out the disc in the right way, i.e. make sure the protrusion the center of the disc is facing the bellhousing.

i forget the reasoning behind it. something like it comes with an anti-rust coating or something. i dunno. well.. is there anything about the install thats easy to miss, or is it just opening up and replacing parts? thanks

Not really, just have an FSM handy, and follow it word for word. Label the bolts so you know which one came from where.

That reasoning is BS I think. Just put it on without sanding it. Then again, I dont have much experience with ACT.

No, a Factory Service Manual is a thick-ass book from Nissan. Its a little pricey, but very useful for technical aspects. You can get one from a dealership.

dont sand it but you should spray the friction surfaces with brake cleaner before you install them to get rid of any contamination on them

It's funny to read Harris giving clutch install advice. Ha!

If you are speaking to the flywheel, you need to clean it with brake cleaner at the very least. I would also suggest lightly sanding it to get rid of the glazing that might be there---then wipe with brake cleaner. The best is to take it off and have it machined.

The disc itself doesn't need any attention. The only thing I can say is that you need to be sure your hands are clean when you touch it. The last thing you want in there is grease from fingers, etc. That will cause chatter and slipping.

Get an FSM. They're cheap if you plan to work on your car a lot.

That's me, ain't it?

I did forget about the brake cleaner part on the flywheel. Get it resurfaced if you can.

I used degreaser to clean my zex flywheel but sanding I have not read anywhere on the FSM to do that. Buy a Haynes manual at the minimum. very easy install IMHO

Not trying to hijack this thread, but just wanted to know if anyone puts loctite on any of the bolts when doing a clutch installation.

Thanks.

I know we put something while Shumax, Jacen99se and I were doing my clutch. I don't remember if it was indeed locktite.

while still on somewhat the same topic, is resurfacing the flywheel the same as when you get your rotors "turned" (where they carve off a little bit to even out the surface).

If it is, then could you use that method to lighten the flywheel, or is there something special that must be done?
