Is my tach off that much???

I have a MSD digital 6, when i set the primary rev limit to 2500, my (stock) tach bounces at like 28-2900. i assume it would be off even more at a higher RPM, i just didnt want to red line it with an open down pipe in my garage. I like my neighbors
anyways, anyone else with a 2-step, how far off is your tach???

tell you the truth bro.,... i tested mine out purposely by setting my redline ay 4k.. It stopped droppin spark at 4k on the freakin dot!!! same with the 2 step ..it holds exactly where i want it...... so i would assume its not the MSD, especially the digital bro, that sh*t is dead on!!

They do say stock tachs with age can develop tolerances of +/- 10% of Indicated Value, which is very bad!!!, you can expect most good guages to have a tolerance of +/- 3% Full Scale, which is acceptable....

let me put it this way... my normal fuel cut comes on at 7800 rpms... this is on a stock classic ecu... i know this doesn't verify the low accurracy but nothing would surprise me with the fuel cut being that far off

My 93 Altima tach read 6600 when it hit the 6200 rev limit ... after the JWT ECU it was at 7300ish when the 7000 limiter came in , so yea , most of the Nissan Factory tachs are a little off ... My brothers G20 was off about 200 RPM also ....

My tach is about 2200rpms off judging by the stock tach vs. after market tach.

They really need a good set of replacement sensors and a gauge cluster to replace the OE cluster. All of the OE gauges in our car are really inaccurate (especially the speedo, water temperature, and tach). It would make life so much easier.

That's why they have an aftermarket for gauges.

Of course. But none of them are direct fit replacements for the gauges that are already there. What I meant was: Wouldn't it be nice if someone designed a cluster that would fit right into the dash, completely replacing the OE dash?
