Two days ago I noticed when driving home my autometer voltage gauge didn't show the normal 13-14 volts, instead it was in the 11 volt range. So today I opened the hood and checked around. I hooked up my Ohm/Volt meter to the battery and it was reporting 11.9-12 volts, once I saw that I noticed a problem. Then I decided to test the positive output on the alternator post and that was reporting 16 volts. I checked the wiring in-between and for some reason the battery isn't recieving a charge.
Now I have an idea that maybe the alternator has died out on me, and its causing a voltage way to high for the charging system. But, the fusable link is perfectly fine (never burned out). So I'm kind of stumped, I hope some of you might have some help in store for me if you've ever heard of an issue like this.
Thanks
