Tranny pops out of 5th gear?

I'm looking at a 93 SE-R with 152k and its tranny pops out of 5th. I work for a Nissan dealer and I was told that the tranny would have to be rebuilt. Is this true or is there an easier fix?

OH man. I'm the easiest going guy with the "SEARCH NOW" type stuff, but come on.. 5th gear popout??

Go to the "search" at the top of the page, and type in 5th gear. You'll find tons of stuff.

However, being the nice guy I am, why don't you check this FAQ:

Mine hit at 145K.

It'll bolt up the same but the sensors are a little different. i.e. speed sensor

I heard that anything over 5K rpm's and you may start to strain on the connecting rods , internals...i just figure that anything over 5k can't be good....i think SDF had mentioned it awhile back...

I think SDF said not to sit above 6k rpm for too long.

1) Because of unneeded strain.
2) Because of the little water-cavitation issue our water pumps have at rpms that high.
