Way too much freeplay in clutch pedal! Can it be bad?

So yeah. My dumbass uncle yet again helped work on my car. INSTEAD of getting a NEW clutch cable like I told them...his dumbass decided to take my decisions into his own hands. 'save money, you dont need new stuff...' sure, when your workin on it...i need new stuff plus whatever else you break!

i didnt want him working on my car and i was hella pissed when i found out. he also took my rims over and put them on *** the car was finished. ANOTHER thing i didnt want him to do! ugh...

anyway, so he removed some bolt on the clutch cable. so now the cable isnt hella strectched like it was before. now...i have over an inch...im guessin maybe over 2inches in freeplay before the sh*t grips. its extremely hard to drive like this! im buying a new cable asap, but i need my car to go buy these parts. and i need my car period. so...

will this freeplay be bad in anyway? i wouldnt think so...but i dont know much about clutches yet. someone please help. i dont wanna be drivin my car around and have something break! thanks...

sorry for the long posts...had to vent a lil. my closet doors seen the otherside of my venting... oops...

when the clutch is in,a nd the car is in gear, is there play on the release before it starts gripping, and if you are in gear, is there play in the pedal before it starts to slip? If so, theres no problem. Just adjust it to where you want it. As long as its not messing up when the clutch grabs/releases...Josh

Here is a writeup on how to adjust it...

I installed a Key Value PP with the SE disc last week and have the same issue. From what I understtod, between the machining of the flywheel and the thickness of the new SE disc, there is not as much adjustment and the pedal freeplay will be somewhat akward. I just tightened the nut almost all the way on the cable and I now have about 1" freeplay. Clutch grabs higher than I desire, but it works.

ok, the pedal should engage fairly soon off the floor, and a decent amount of "freeplay" when you first push the pedal down is normal also.

ok maybe its a touch excessive, get a new cable, and call it a day if you have to, otherwise dont worry about it!

hmm. it like grabs hella low. here's what i measured...

total distance the pedal moves: 6 1/4 ins
total free play before it grabs: 2 3/4 ins
total grab distance: you do the math. im lazy...

i really only wanted to know if it was bad or not. it seems like it isnt. but anything you can advise will be good...
