How do you check fuel pressure?

Just as the subject says, I'm looking to do this on my '91 SE-R. I went to Auto Zone / Pimp Boys / Advance and they all had the same tools to check fuel pressure. One says its ideal for domestics with a Schrader valve (like my '90 Firebird ) and the other is a generic tester that also checks for vacuum (and is about $10 cheaper). Which one to get? And where do I do the test from? The fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail? Somewhere off the fuel pressure regulator? I also have a fuel sample port for roadracing -- basically a "T" fitting off the fuel line between the filter and rail ... looks like it has some kind of valve on it.

Edit: AFAIK, the FSM is pretty vague about this procedure. All I could find is a short paragraph on what the fuel pressure should be. Nothing about "how to."

Sounds like it's time to break down and buy the FSM, which has a nicely detailed procedure. No, I do not have access to my FSM at this time.

get a compression tester. cut off the fitting on the end. put a tee on it. put it between the fuel filter and the rail. then put on a shot pipe to the fuel rail. there you go.
