How much difference does one tooth on the intake or exhaust sprocket make. I estimate it to be 360deg/36teeth=10deg per tooth. I see people adjusting their cam timings by 3-5deg with the adjustable cam gears so I really don't think 1 tooth off will make that huge of a difference. I think it depends on which side you skip the tooth that would determine how much power loss you get. Correct me if I'm wrong.
1 tooth makes a big difference. When mine skipped a tooth on the exhaust (the only place the chain can skip mind you) when I put my tensioner in, the car was missing terribly.
car ran like sh*t and would not rev over 5800, and at night I popped the hood after driving and the exhaust manifold was glowing red, so I am assuming it was running really lean.

Although, I talk to it and let her know that she is still my number 1

Mine did the same thing, but I'm still not absolutely sure what caused it because me and 3 other people (eric96ser, calum, and bowlcut) counted the links. Now the same motor with the same timing chain and links is running just great in a turbo car and I helped him put it in .(sorry to get off topic)

Why do you say it's only possible to skip a tooth on the exhaust side?
when my cams skipped a tooth, the idle and response was horrible.. and when i checked the ignition timing it was way lower then stock; i then FULLY advanced it and it was at 10 degrees... it ran pretty bad.

After reading through this thread, I'm worried my prob my have to do with missing a tooth? My car is running perfectly fine though (no power probs), it's just when the car is idling in gear, and has no gas..
