Two wierd issues

Lately I've been having two what I think are weird problems. Maybe you nerds can help me .

1.) The first issue is with my powerband. While driving normal or under load, my car doesn't seem to pull hard until I hit 4500rpm exactly. A friend of mine rode with me and he thought I had some type of variable cam lobe . My motor is a stock JDM sr20de. Performance isn't hendered, but it just doesn't seem right. Any ideas?

2.) Next problem seems to come only when I'm doing about 75 and I slow down. At about 75mph my tach reads about 4k, but as soon as I let it go down to 3500rpm the car sputters all the way to 3k. Though it does this, as soon as I speed up or get above 3500rpm the car feels like whatever is holding it back lets go (Kind of like when you have the air on and turn it off while driving).

My motor is a stock JDM sr20de(put about 11k miles on it) w/ relatively new nissan plug wires, new ngk(copper) plugs, relatively new distributor, new air filter, and rotor cap & button.

Don't know what it can be. I checked the plugs and they don't show any signs of a bad mixture so I'm really confused. I want my low end, hard pulling, honda killing tourqe back . Please help and TIA.

-Kenny

my ideais it could be the clutch... but the motor is fairly new, you should take it to a mechanic and have them take a look... just my .02

I don't think its the clutch, because the clutch was bought the same time as the motor.

Any other suggestions

Hmmm... when's the last time you changed the fuel filter? Cleaned the EGR and tubing, AAC valve, throttle body, reground the MAF?

Those are the things I would look at.

Later,
Mark(a penny for my thoughts? You'd be paying too much)

The knock sensor is probably causing #1. It will retard the ignition timing 10 degrees up to 4.5 RPMS. It could be sensing knock, or just be out.

Do the diagnostic check on the ecu. If code free, check your ignition timing and plug gap. Then start to suspect ignition components.
