No MAF

Anyone know what would happen if I drove the car without a MAF? I shorted mine out trying to do the reground and it doesn't work anymore. I had to drive home, maybe 1.5 miles at most, and it would die and not run correctly. What damage could I have done? I pretty much had to keep revving it to keep it alive. When I got home too there was some smoke, not like exhaust, coming out of the tailpipe like something was burning. Any ideas? I really hope I didn't screw up my car. Also, the clock on the dash was reset? What does this mean? I have a feeling that somehow my ECU got messed up. Thanks.

it should be fine, I wouldnt go driving it until it's replaced. The ecu went in limp mode and dumped fuel to keep it safe without knowing the amount of air. At worst you fouled your plugs.

Oh, well that's not that bad. How do I get the ECU out of limp mode if it did go into that?
Badass picture by the way.
Thanks.

Drive it like you stole it (or at least try to before it breaks)

Driving around with your car running excessively rich can also ruin your catalytic converter.

Might be a good idea to reset the ECU also.

If you only drove a mile and a half, I'm sure the cat will be fine, just get a new maf, and you're good to go.
