Valve spring compressors?

I did a search and didnt find what Im looking for. I will be doing a mild port and polish on the head.

Question: What type of valve spring compressor do you guys use when removing the valves? I picked up an overhead type from Sears and its truly a PITA to use. I highly doubt Im going to be able to get the valve assembly back in with this tool.

Any info would be appreciated.

You might be able to find a set of compressors that hold the valve from below and compress the valve from the top. I know AutoZone has this tool for rent. I ran into the same problem, and just let the machine shop do all the work.

check out www.northerntool.com and do a search for valve spring compressers i am in the process of swapping mine to i ordered one from them yestereday i am just waiting for it to come in, it was like 60 bucks, also a few of the styles wont work on our cars if you have the head off the car then you can use the type that looks like a C-clamp and it wont be hard but if its on its another story.

Thanks for the link, that universal one looks like it will do the job. I was planning on building one similar to that, but for $60 it may not be cheaper to build one.
