Struts

My 92 Classic is completely stock. After 194K miles, I imagine that new struts are long overdue. The car drives and handles fine with no visible leaks from the struts. Is this an easy job? Should I wait until the car starts hopping?

Do it whenever you want to. I changed my springs and re-used my stock struts as they weren't bad. The only reason I changed my springs was because the stock spring on the front driver's side was rusted so bad that it broke into two pieces on the the bottom portion.

The fronts aren't that hard to change. Its the rear ones that I hated doing. You have to take out the rear seats to get to the bolts that hold the struts. Other than that, I don't think you'll run into any hassles. Do get an alignment right after replacing your struts.

All this should take you about two hours if you have the right tools.

Ron,
After 194K you owe to you and your car to put 4 new struts on the old girl. You could go with KYB AGX if you wanna spend the cash or go with KYB GR2 if you dont. I really doubt the struts are doing much after that kinda mileage. You say it handles fine...but after you put the new ones on youll be like....WOW what a difference.

Thanks for the info. The car does make a little racket when I cross RR tracks, etc. I'll check into it.
