Fuel injectors and hesitation

A question for the experts about the fuel injectors:

My NX has 133k on it, and exhibits a slight lack of power below 3000 rpm and a slight hesitation down low. Classic "fuel injectors need cleaning" problem, but we can't put FI cleaner in our cars *** it will screw up the injectors. But I did see a thread that said something about a company who cleans our injectors by cleaning a little screen in each injector with carb cleaner.

Anybody done this themself? I haven't seen a parts blowout of our injectors anywhere, so I don't know if this is a possibility. Sure be nice if it were true.

Any insight from the SR20 wizards?
