Engine Bogs Down When Coming to a Stop

Mods done: JDM SR20, Pace Setter header, Outlaw intake spacer kit, Magnaflow high-flow cat, Magnaflow muffler, 2 1/4 piping cat-back, K&N cone filter, timing at 19, Custom hood scoop right on the intake.

When coming toward a stop, if I don't rev it before completely stopping the engine will bog down to 500 RPM or lower, sometimes actually shutting down.

Would it be anything to do with the timing or idler screw? Any comments are apreciated. Thanks.

Re: Engine Bogs Down When Coming to a Stop

clean your bpt... its the right disk next to your EGR.. take it off and put some carb cleaner in the little metal tube under it and then shove some pipe cleaner or something in there and clean it up.. let it sit for 15 minutes and then turn it on, if you feel a steady stream of air then it means you cleaned it, if not do it again.. that should get rid of it... it will go down to like 500 rpms but it will jump up... also clean the egr.. that will help ya

Any idea what the right voltage would be off the top of your head.

Re: Engine Bogs Down When Coming to a Stop

Had this problem on our G20 -- clean your throttle body, and clean out the whole idle control unit (IACV), with carb cleaner or some other solvent. You will need to remove it from your intake manifold in order to clean it (easy on a low-port, harder on the high-port). Use an old toothbrush or similar tool to really get it clean. Cleaning just the throttle body fixed the problem for a few days, but finally I had to just clean and test the IACV. Instructions are on SE-R.net.
