I was reading some site it says to use 4 quarts of manual tranny fluid im like wtf never heard of a 4 banger using 4 quarts, anyone know what sr20 manual tranny takes?
also cheaper.. i think 10% off with this coupon code when you check out. 675421
i have shockproof light in my 200sx right now, good feel, but the car is pretty much stock. if i had turbo or was drag racing with slicks and heavy clutch (like my 92 will be) Id use Heavy.
yeah I found some places that sell it cheaper then 10 bucks but ouch, I can get service and non-synthetic oil all done for 25 bucks and being as poor as I am, I cant afford no 30-40 +20 bucks for service, my car is at 65k....
You don't change tranny fluid like you change the motor oil. Look at it as an expenditure that will give you really nice returns for at least the next 100,000 miles. Buy Redline MT-90 for your car. It is really good for N/A SE-Rs.

-jack
-3/8" ratchet
-1/2" ratchet/breaker bar
-drain pan
-squeeze bottle with 3/8" or 1/2" diameter hose
i believe the fill plug is a 3/8" square plug, and the drain is 1/2" square.
you first jack the car up, put jackstand under for safety if you wish (i do). you should make sure the car is level as well, jack the rear up too. remove the fill hole FIRST! (this is important becasue if you drain it and then have a problem getting the fill plug out your screwed) then remove the drain plug an let it out into the pan. the plugs will be very tight, may need a breaker bar to assist you or a pipe for added leverage. after you let it drain for a long time, re install the drain plug and fill the tans with the new oil in a squeeze bottle with the hose so its easier.
bam you saved 20 bux and it only took a half hour of your time.

im a computer nerd, me dont have many tools, plus when it comes to cars im usually scratching my head so I usually let other people do the work and save myself from scratching my head. Plus I decided im the next year im going to trade this car in on a 240SX, 04 Cobra or any year Bullitt, or possibly a 93+ Rx7, looked onto insurance for Supra T and its horrible and im 30, but what I am meaning is I really dont want to spend alot of dough anymore on the car that im only going to keep at longest a year...

Well I am almost finished with the 60k service, all I have left to do is change the coolant, change the gear oil, change the belts, and get a new radiator cap and im done but as broke as I am I just cant afford redline not with 4 quarts =(
a bud and i just put a tranny in my 92, and it took just about 4qts of shockproof

this shock proof sounds good, does any one use Gm syncromesh or anything similar,
i used synchromesh in 3 honda boxes, because i think its similar to MTL, a little lighter weight. it seemed to do quite well in those. i wouldnt use it in a SR box, id stick with the redline gear oils, MT90, Shockproof Light or Heavy. Plus GM Synchromesh is about $10+ per quart i believe last lime i paid 11/qt and list is $12.something
Please help... will Royal Purple Synchromax work in the SR20 gearbox? Just bought some today but I'm getting second thoughts. (transmission's going in today at noon)
well if you want to use royal purple you should be using their Max Gear 75w90... id take the synchromax back because its thinner. take it back and exchange if you can. synchro max is for manual gearboxes that take motor oil instead of gear oil, like old japanese tansmissions.
Four quarts is alot, but bear in mind that this is a transaxle. In my 350, the tranny takes 3 quarts of MT-90 and the diff takes 4 quarts of 75w-90 -- 7 quarts total.
