possible solution to loud for loud belts?

my belts are loud and squeeling again and someone told me to put baby powder as a temp fix to stop the noise. is this true? has anyone EVER heard of this? let me know cause i def. do not want to screw something up.

Another trick is to use a bar of hand soap. Just hold it on the belt with the engine running, watch your fingers though. Or, you could get some spray on belt dressing from the auto parts store.

so the powder idea does werk? *** do u guys think, should i go to the dealership? cause i had a mechanic try twice already and it werks for a lil while.

Well, I wouldnt put it off for too much longer if this has been going on for awhile. My buddy did this (soap, wd-40, etc) trying to get rid of the noise, then on his way home from work one day the alty belt snapped. The best thing to do would be to replace them....it only takes 15 minutes
