Strut/GC clank issue

Ok my passenger side strut is clanking like a MOFO .......so i go into the trunk and look at the tops of each........the big middle bolt is tighteneted down good on the drivers side but on the passenger side the bolt is loose.......i tried tightening it but i got no where.......how can i get that bolt tightened up? the bolt was spinning and it wasnt tightening i even help the top part of the shaft that sticks out so that wouldnt spin .....HELP lol

Did you use a wrench to hold the shaft still while you tighten the strut bolt?

yea i held the top of the shaft with vise grips inside the trunk and tried to tighten the bolt with a wrench

Vice Grips won't hold it as well. Use a wrench on the top of the strut shaft to hold it while you tighten the strut nut. You need an offset wrench for the nut.

It sounds like you have a B14. You need to put some washers on top of the gold washer to act as a spacer. I had to do that for both of my rear shocks.

What kind of wrench are you talking about? An adjustable one? I ended up breaking the top of my drivers side rear strut shaft when I was trying to tighten it down I'm just living with both sides clanking until I can get money up for a Tein setup...

Yes I know. Thats what you should use to tighten the nut on the top of the strut.

ok so i look and my strut and the bolt and they are both stripped WFT........they must have been like this for awhile and been causing all that clanking......i hit a bump today and the nut like actually blew off........well is there anything i can do.......can i get the shaft of the strut like rethreaded or somthing or do i need to buy a new strut.......sh*t LOL can someone help me out....its my dailydriver and need it asap

is it cool if i just rethread it .....then pull it back up the tower and put another bolt back on? or is it more complicated than that

but its striaght if i just pull it back into the tower......put the rubber piece on and then the metal top part then put the nut on and use the impact gun? or do i have to remove the mount at all?
